Current AB 130/104 Requirements for 2021-2022
Recent legislation requires that we inform you of your right to enroll your student in either an in-person instruction setting at your local district school or in one of our Independent Study Programs during the 2021-2022 school year. You may be currently enrolled in one of our programs now.
Parents choosing an Independent Study option have the right to request a pupil-parent-educator conference meeting before enrollment to review the academic program delivery, student support, enrollment process, specific academic expectations as well as the withdrawal process. In many cases, the specific ACCESS program website will review the program procedures in more detail.
Independent Study is a continuously voluntary option for students.
Along with many of our program support opportunities, each Independent Study program will offer for pupils in grades 9 to 12, inclusive:
- a plan to provide opportunities for at least weekly synchronous instruction for all pupils throughout the school year.
- a plan to transition pupils whose families wish to return to in-person instruction from independent study expeditiously, and, in no case, later than five instructional days.
Again, this notification is required by law. If you are currently enrolled in one of our Independent Study programs, you will remain enrolled and can continue working with your teachers and support persons. We appreciate you choosing an ACCESS program for your child’s education.
